SXSW 2025 Audience Award Winner. I DIRECTED AND EXECUTIVE PRODUCED. Spy High is Available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
A four-part series from Mark Wahlberg's Unrealistic Ideas, Spy High explores the story of 15-year-old Blake Robbins, whose entire life changed when he was called into his high school principal's office and accused of selling drugs - the evidence to back the claim being a photo of him taken in his bedroom. Blake and his family filed a lawsuit claiming that his prestigious public school was spying on him, causing a media frenzy, triggering an FBI investigation, and exposing new evidence that senT his wealthy suburban township into an uproar. Beneath this juicy suburban scandal lie more troubling revelations with implications in the larger war over digital privacy being waged in schools today.
RogerEbert.com: "the deceptive thrill of director Jody McVeigh-Schultz’s approach to “Spy High” is in playing with the typical sympathy we might feel for a documentary protagonist. And in so doing, make us question to what extent we might find ourselves signing off on the erosion of our rights and privacy just to punish someone we deem unworthy."
Decider: "tells a compelling story about a school district that went too far and a brash family that was not afraid to fight back... Stream It."
